A part of the D-Day landings ... Normandy

My husband is really fascinated by the Mount.Saint Michel towards the end of France. Normandy is very historic with its D-day landings of the second world war and the beaches that cover it. But it was not a historic trip for us, relaxing one and no big aims other than the Etretat and the Mont St Michel.
We drove with friends from Brussels to Rouen,France in 4 hours and had a good night's sleep.
Our first day was to Etretat , the elephant cliffs. This is one place which I fell in love after visiting and had fascination about it.  There were plenty of cliffs covering the coast of Etretat and most of them seemed like an Elephant bending and having a drink from the water. Marvellous nature. The beach is pebble beach and hence its a nice massage to the foot .
Obviously we started with photo sessions and enjoyed to the max with the colorful pebbles, green algae , the blue beach and the raising brown cliffs!
There are wooden steps to climb the cliffs at one side and the other side some more steps to reach the church. We took the steps towards the left first and climbed to see the world's amazing views . The clear blue sky touching the wild blue coast. The coast covered with the cliffs and arranged neatly one after another . WOW! We walked more towards the other cliff and could see people like ants below from above and the wet sand washed away with water and the pebbles lying so neatly wet.
One place I did not want to get down after Slovenia's Lake Bled.
But the perils of a toddler, we had to feed her and the advantage of her going as sleep and we walked slowly down . The other side is the most posh Golf course I have seen.

We rested on the beach for some while and started to go up the other side towards the church. Its an old ruined church but looks beautiful with its ruins preserved. The view from the church side was not that spectacular and we descended as rains to bless us. We can even drive up to the church if its too tiring to walk.

The next day was our big drive to Mont Saint Michel. The beautiful island which is highlighted when there are tides and there is water surrounding it  . The night lights provide an awesome view . But we are so lucky, that there were no tides and it was just a small mountain like in the middle of where, yet beautiful . The island does have a lot of shops, eateries and restos. The island has an abbaye which provides an awesome view of the full island and can be enjoyed where is good tide. The island is dully done with steps and is pretty steep.
The best part of the day was the walk around the quick sand , Even though there was no tide at least there was good amount of quick sand which made us pull for every step and it was an awesome experience. Making our legs dirty enough, we drove back out stay and had a goo nights sleep.

The next day was short enough with a drive to Deauville/Trouville - the twin cities. The Deauville beach is the most famous and posh beach and has plenty of umbrellas available for resting. This is famous for the hollywood stars to have a good vacation in the French . Deauville is an old city but Trouville is new and there is just a small bridge and a port that divides them. Some good time in the beach and the walk in the city and we were back on the wheels headed to Brussels.
A short , good trip but must say that this side of France is pretty expensive with number of tolls, parking and at times food too!!
