Many Belgians would think about Damme twice , but tourists do not!They love it. Its a very small uber-beautiful place nearer to Brugge (approx 6 km).
We went by drive to Damme on Christmas Day, but its possible to hire cycles and ride from Brugge to Damme to enjoy mother nature.
The river Reie which was once the main river in Damme, has now been canalised into a straight canal similar to Brugge and lined by tall trees which makes it more pictureseque.
Damme is very famous for small eat outs and hundreds of beautiful shops , yet expensive.
The most popular way of travelling in Damme is by the boat through the canal especially during summer where the canal seems end less from any distance.
